"Healthy Isles, Bright Futures" is a transformative health initiative aimed at revitalizing and strengthening the primary healthcare system across the Zanzibar Archipelago. By enhancing infrastructure, building local capacity, and improving access to essential services, this project seeks to create a resilient, community-centered primary care network that meets the needs of all Zanzibaris — especially women, children, and underserved rural populations.
This three-year initiative aligns with the Zanzibar Health Sector Strategic Plan and supports Tanzania's commitment to Universal Health Coverage (UHC), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and equitable healthcare delivery.
Upgrade and equip 30 primary healthcare centers (PHCs) with essential medical supplies, clean water access, solar power, and basic diagnostics.
Train and deploy 150 primary care professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives, community health workers) with emphasis on maternal and child health, preventive care, and disease surveillance.
Digitize patient records and integrate health data reporting across facilities for real-time monitoring and policy planning.
Launch outreach campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, maternal health, and immunization in collaboration with local leaders and youth ambassadors.
Improve procurement and distribution of medicines and equipment to reduce stock-outs and ensure timely care delivery.
